The owners of an unfinished building complex, built on the footprint of an old tomato factory, on the seaside of Ag. Georgios area in Santorini, decided to turn their property into a small boutique hotel.
In the existing building shell, the architectural design creates six detached suites with maximum capacity of four people each. Attics are created under the vaulted roofs to maximize the interior space and private yards with jacuzzi, or private terraces are offering outside seating and living space.
Along the building, at the common space of the hotel, a pool is designed with three water pool beds and a bar bench in the water. The façade of the building is painted using red powder in the plaster, embracing the Enetian influence on the island’s traditional architecture.
The main concept of the interior design is inspired by the Akrotiri frescos by embracing six different themes for each of the suites. The name and ceramic signature of each suite as well as an artwork decorating each room is inspired by the frescos of lilies, papyrus, monkeys, fish, antelopes, and swallows.
